3. SUNDAY ROUNDUP (TUESDAY EDITION)

Keston Cobblers Club// Cobblers on the Uni wall of cool// On break during my double shift
//2014 Weddings// OUCH// Zebra for Carnage

Howdy hey blogger dudes and dudettes!
I must admit again i've been slacking! I really don't have an excuse this time, and I do apologise. ANYWHOOO even though I know it's Tuesday here is the very belated much loved Sunday Roundup!

  • Started Uni term 3 aka do shit all for 6 weeks! Officially handed in everything, now it's time to pray and wait and see if i've passed... oh and start gathering information and doing coursework for my exam..
  • Last Monday my friend and his band were in town so I went and saw them. Got guestlist and everything.. felt very "lifestyles of the rich and famous" haha. If you haven't heard of them you should! Here's one of their singles "Your Mother" and another cute and adorable song "Giraffe Junkie"... you're welcome.
  • Did my first ever double shift last Wednesday- 11:30am-11pm. I had an hour's break at 5pm but was still pretty knackered by the time it was 11pm! Time seemed to be my enemy and dragged on throughout the day.
  • I started the 30 Day Shred on Monday. Mega determined to use my free time to my advantage by  focusing on getting in shape and losing the spare tyre before summer well and truly hits us! On day 7 atm and so far i'm doing OK, don't really see any results but i do feel as if my stamina has increased so at least that's something. I'm also doing the Couch to 5k program which can be found on the NHS website here.
  • My friend's have sent me their Save the Dates for the respective weddings next year which is exciting! Really hope i'm able to save up the money to attend the one in NZ, if not really hope my dad will be able to help me out with the flight money, would be nice to go home and see everyone for a bit.
  • Sunday night and the main reason for the lack of this post was Carnage. Carnage is this massive club crawl that they put together in some University cities. I was convinced to attend haha i think I had fun? I honestly don't remember much :/ I did wake up however to some scraps on my knee and I vaguely remember the cause of the scraps. I also apparently stole my friends drink and drank it which is not like me at all.. ahh well UNI LIFE!

GUEST LIST YOU SAY?

Well well well haven't a been quite the slacker! I do apologise, been quite a bit busy with Uni work- handed in my last assignment for the term WOO!- and worked my first ever double shift (not to mention it were my first shifts back from the holidays and I can safely say I was exhausted afterwards).
My Wanderlust Wednesday feature will be back next week, I was meant to do it on Thursday but spent the whole day rendering my groups film and then writing up the most bullshit worthy piece of essay i've done this whole year haha.

Anywho this is the outfit I wore on Monday when I went and saw my friend's band Keston Cobbler's Club play in Portsmouth, even got put on the guest list.. how swanky! I felt very VIP haha. I really love this dress and I've been waiting forever to wear it, I got it when I was last back home in NZ. It's so comfy and is so easily dressed up or down. These types of dresses are also perfect for festivals for those who want to add a bit of girlie chic to their festival wardrobe, this dress might just have to come with me to Glastonbury...

Dress- Cotton On (AUS/NZ Brand)
Jacket- New Look
Tights- Primark
Boots- Primark
Rings- Republic & Primark
Necklace- Gift from the Boyf.
Bracelets- Reading Festival stall, Primark

2. SUNDAY ROUNDUP

1. Cosmo Masterclass 2. Goodie bag goodies 3. Primark Necklace
4. Keston Cobblers Club 5. Mindy Project 6. New hand weights

  • On Tuesday I attended the first ever Cosmo Careers Masterclass. I went with my friends Ali and Laura and it was the best. So helpful and I feel more confident now in approaching getting work experience. I talked to the wonderful Chole Melick co-founder of Inside/Out, she really helped me in terms of figuring out my next steps and what could be helpful to break into the media side of the music business (ultimately i'd love to be a radio DJ, but a girl has to have a back up plan) I would definitely recommend going to their next one!
  • Our goodie bags were sooooo good! Packed full of cool products which I shall eventually review (big ups for Cosmo for saving me some money haha)
  • Apart from the the Masterclass this week has been ultra quiet and lazy, mainly due to the fact that i've almost maxed out my overdraft.. I get my student loan/allowance tomorrow THANK GOD! and then pay day from my part time job comes this week.
  • Had some drinks on Friday with my pals in Bromley, a lil so long farewell type thing/ hey let's go out for a drink. I was meant to get a photo of my outfit but totally spaced and didn't, ahh well, next time. Got plenty of laughs that night as well as the drinks kept flowing, although surprisingly did not wake up with a hangover.. SCORE!
  • Got back to Portsmouth yesterday as our exam and consolidation period begins on Monday. I only have one more project to hand in on Friday for my Digital Filming class and then one open book exam for animation on the 20th of May. Needless to say I think i'll have a lot of spare time on my hands. My plan is to be boring and grab as many shifts as I can at the bar.
  • WHO IS LOVING THIS WEATHER? I MEAN HELLO THERE MISTER SUN IT SURE HAS BEEN AWHILE!! Lets hope this is just the beginning! Bring on a scorcher of a summer 2013!!
  • I finished getting all up to date with "Arrested Development" this week.. YAY! Now to wait for the new season in May, and I also got into "The Mindy Project" where I feel a deep connection with the main character Mindy, we get each other on soooo many levels.. *TV NERD ALERT*
  • ALSO BIG NEWS!! Special shout out to my first follower via my bloglovin'. I feel truly special! So thank you <3
Anywho that's it for me this week, I'm really looking forward to tomorrow as my friend and his band are performing in Portsmouth so i'm gunna go see them play and catch up with him after..

A MASTERCLASS IN MEDIA

On Tuesday I attended Media Masterclass hosted my Cosmopolitan with two of my friends Ali and Laura. After getting a tad lost (and realising I should really come into Londontown more when i'm on my breaks) I managed to meet up with the girls and we grabbed a quick bite to eat at Nandos before heading on to the main event!
I decided I wanted go smart but casual, as you never know who you're going to meet at these events or what opportunities could arise. I wore the same leggings that I wore to Alan Carr Chatty Man and teamed it with this super comfy shirt from Primark. I love how the sleeves are rolled up to give it that cool chic vibe. I kept my accessories light, (mainly as I got into London and realised I hadn't put on any rings and bracelets haha) just wearing this bold statement necklace that I bought also at Primark. It immediately stood out to me, and from what i've seen of the jewellery selections coming out now, fits in perfectly with this summers trends.
To finish it off I wore my lovely comfy Primark flats (this time they didn't get soaked in the rain).

Top- Primark
Leggings- H&M
Necklace- Primark
Flats- Primark

WANDERLUST WEDNESDAY

DESTINATION: TOKYO, JAPAN

This is another weekly feature I hope to keep up. We all know hump day can be a bit of drag sometimes, and can make the weekend seem like it's miles away. So these posts can be for those days, help you take a break from work, or study, or life, and possibly help inspire your next holiday destination (I know that it will for me haha).

Today's first Wanderlust Wednesday is Tokyo, Japan. A couple of friends recently came back from a trip there and had the best time! Japan in general has been at the top of my travel list for so long, my only two problems are getting the money (being a student has made that slightly more challenging haha) and finding someone to go with. One day though I will go to this wonderful country enriched with culture and history, but until then this post will have to do.

If you've always wanted to go to Tokyo but didn't know what you could do when you got there, here's a list of ideas you could do..

  • Attend Ueno Zoo. See real life Panda bears and other exotic creatures.
  • Immerse yourself in Japanese treasures and history at the Tokyo National Musuem
  • When cherry blossoms are in bloom, many residents go down to one of the parks with picnics and enjoy the scenery. A popular park to do this is at the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden.
  • If you're a massive Studio Ghibli fan like myself, there is the Ghibli Museum which is located just outside Tokyo in Mitaka. They even play a special short film from Studio Ghibli that you can't see anywhere else!
  • There's also the Imperial Palace to check out, home of the Emperor.
  • Who could forget about Tokyo Disneyland, one of my things on my Bucket List is to go to all of the different Disneyland's around the world so this would be a must see when I get there.
  • Check out the famous Tokyo Tower that is a landmark for the city as well as in most anime and manga's based in Tokyo. (Bright orange fixture in the above photo as well). Or perhaps check out the new Tokyo Skytree that was only opened up in May 2012!
  • Some side trips that you could do while in Tokyo is visit Kamakura a small city full of historic treasures or visit Ikaho Onsen a hot spring resort and famous for its stone stairs.
I won't put down places to eat as there are probably many great places and it all depends on your budget, the same goes for karaoke places, i'm sure there are plenty to choose from.

Hopefully the few attractions I have found out about have inspired you to possibly organise a trip to Tokyo, or just get you excited to plan your own holiday somewhere fabulous. Check back next week to see what the next city i'll feature will be!

Until next time...

1. SUNDAY ROUNDUP

So I figured to help keep me on this blogging path i'd through in a couple of regular features. This feature you can say is inspired by Gala Darling's "Carousel Fridays" and LLYMLRS' "Sunday Portraits. Basically every Sunday i'll have a round-up of my week and maybe chuck in a couple of website's or idea's i've come across (this will be done especially on the more boring of my weeks- who am I kidding, that's most weeks haha). I know this is a day late, but oh well. I'll try not make it habit for this weekly fixture.

1. Reuniting with Charlie 2. Totoro 3. Patrick Stump tweeting me
4. Sleepover time 5. Face masks 6. Nandos

  • I moved out of my boyfriends family house last Sunday when he went back to Uni,  and into my friend Mairi's house as it was closer to Bromley town centre.
  • Met up and had a dvd and homemade chilli night at my friend Lisette's house, we watched the classic Studio Ghibli film "Princess Mononoke" and I got to reacquaint myself with her cat Charlie (note one of the few cats who actually like me haha)
  • Wednesday saw me in being a busy bee as I got my 8th tattoo and popping into London to be apart of a live audience for Alan Carr Chatty Man.
  • Saturday night a few girls and I had a sleepover at our friend Ruth's house, where we gorged on yummy foods and alcohol and watched girlie films.
  • That night was also when I did a face mask for the first time. The experience was unique haha, my face never felt so tight while it was on!
  • Sunday I popped into my friend Sam's place of work where we decided on having spontaneous after work drinks with her friend Phoebe and Sam's new fella Mike.. which then led onto spontaneous Nando's. Gotta love spontaneity. After that I came home and me and Mairi lazed about in her room watching TV. Finishing the night with a little bit of Jeremy Kyle, let me tell you I have never been more confused about a messed up family until that ep.. I could barely keep up- i'd try to explain but i'd only just confuse you all as well.
  • If any of you are in London this Tuesday Cosmopolitan are doing a Media Masterclass that me and a few friends decided to check out. Here's the link. There's also one in Manchester
  • I've also been looking at holidays, so i've been on easyjet Holidays and STA Travel a bit this week to see what deals I could possibly snag.

OFFICIAL FIRST OUTFIT OF THE DAY POST

This was the outfit I decided to wear to Alan Carr Chatty Man. I absolutely love this top I picked up from Forever 21 over Christmas break. It's a lovely coral-orange colour, perfect to bring colour to an outfit during the drab grey months. I love the stud detail on the colour too.
The leggings I picked up from H&M around late February/early March, they have this velvet paisley detail on the front with some skull design. They are so comfy and gives you another alternative other then wearing jeans.
The owl necklace is a staple in my wardrobe, I wear it pretty much every time I dress up. My boyfriend got it for my birthday 2 years ago, and it was the first piece of jewellery given to me by a boy, so it has a lot of sentimental value.
I would have taken a picture of my shows but they got drenched in the walk home from the rain so I was eager to get them off and get my feet into warm dry socks!

Top- Forever 21
Leggings- H&M
Necklace- birthday gift from boyfriend
Ring- Primark
Bracelets- Primark & New Look
Flats (not shown due to being soaked)- Primark

INK & TALKSHOWS

So yesterday I had a rather busy day, which is normally unlike me haha. First thing in the morning (well 11am) I power walked my way to the bus stop to catch the 126 to Eltham High Street to get some new ink from my pal Danny Brown of Inksmiths of London. I finally got my adorable and highly loved Totoro tattoo that was meant to have happened last November (don't ask- stupid public transport).

Latest edition- Totoro!

For those of you who are unfamiliar, Totoro is the forest spirit in the Studio Ghibli film "My Neighbour Totoro". I am a massive fan of Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki in particular. I love this new additon to my every growing collection! (This now brings me up to tattoo number 8) and I love my tattoo artist Danny Brown, i've been going back to him since he did my first UK tattoo, just a pure gentleman. In fact everyone at Inksmiths are incredibly talented artists and very helpful in giving you the best service possible.

After this lil baby got inked on my skin, I had to rush back home to start getting ready for my night time activities... About a week ago my friend Krizia asked if i was interested in partaking in the live audience for Alan Carr Chatty Man. Who was I to say no! I'd never been in a live audience before so I was quite excited. Obviously I was mega conscious about what I was gunna wear.. HELLO what if this was my big break and someone spotted me from the crowd?! (it didn't happen, but a girl can still dream haha) I'll chuck up an outfit post after this one, so you all know what I wore. As usual however I lost track of time, so had to run to the train station and pray I didn't miss my train.
Alan Carr Chatty Man was amazing! But also very strict. I was hoping to have gotten a few sneaky pics to post up here, but that was a big NO NO! After the threats of possibly being kicked out, I decided to turn my phone off to resist the temptation. Although UK viewers tune in Friday 12th April, Channel 4,  10pm, I'll be tuning in to see if I can see me (I was third row for those of you playing at home haha).
Fall Out Boy were the musical guests which made me over the moon as I absolutely LOVE them! I'd quite happily say they are my top fav band. I couldn't resist yelling out to Patrick that I loved him haha (with the help of my friend Therese who helped pushed me to do it), it was worth it though because he turned around and waved at us *cue fangirling*.
Apparently these live audience events have VIP wristbands, which means you can stay after the show and mingle with the stars and drink champagne. I got a little too excited when they said "gold wrist bands stay behind", my wristband was yellow but thought it could pass for gold, until Krizia told me that I was wrong haha.

My "gold" wristband haha
Can I just say English weather.. sort your shit out! We came out of the ITV Studios it was pouring it down. I decided to wear my Primarni flats as the weather was nice when I left and by the time I got back to Waterloo they were drenched! Although something did happen to take my mind off of being caught in the rain. I had tweeted just a general tweet about my evening including a mention to Patrick Stump (singer of Fall Out Boy) and his adorable-ness, I was eating my wrongly ordered Burger King (I asked for a cheeseburger meal but got a hamburger meal #firstworldproblems) when my phone alerted me that I had a mention.. it was only freaking Patrick Stump replying back to me. The amount of contain fangirling that occured within my body was unbelievable. I'm surprised I didn't squeal out loud causing the public to assume that I was indeed a wacko (perhaps a little squeal came out).

*cue hardcore fangirling*
It's days like these were I truly miss being in London, not that i'm enjoying learning about my course and working my way to a degree, but London is LONDON. My adoptive hometown <3

Today though has been the complete opposite of yesterday, i've literally just lazed about all day. But that's mainly down to me having no money (hurry up the 22nd!) However I have decided that i'm going to attempt the 30 Day Shred. May even do it as part of a blog series? I'm also going to attempt the NHS Couch to 5k, as lame as it sounds i've always wanted to be a runner, it's just so handy, you can literally take this exercise "skill" anywhere. We'll see though...

Until next time...

REVIEW: L'ORÉAL WILD OMBRÉ PRÉFÉRENCES

The other day I decided that I wanted to change my hair colour (yet again.) I've been ombré before, but I had a my natural gingery, brown, red hair with blonde tips. This time I wanted to try it again but have brown hair. So I said good-bye to my very faded Lavender hair and headed off to Superdrug to find suitable hair colours. I'd say I spent a good half and hour ummm-ing and ahhh-ing over the different shades of Brown, and thinking if did I really want to change my blonde hair? In the end i gave up and headed to Sainsburys, which is wear i came across their L'ORÉAL Préférence deal of 2 for £11. After texting the boyfriend about which Brown i should go for I settled on no7 Rimini and of course got the Wild Ombré kit for Dark Blondes.

I decided on doing this in two stages, the first stage being dying my hair Brown. I chose this light brown as I still wanted the option of going back to Blonde if I didn't like how it turned out (or if i grew tired of it and craved my Lavender hair again). I was expecting my hair to be a tad darker, but I should have known to get a slightly dark shade as my hair had been dyed a very Light Blonde.

no.7 Rimini L'Oréal Préférence

I waited a few days before I attempted using the Wild Ombré dye box. It was interesting using a brush (which was provided) to help spread the colourant through my hair. As you should, I followed the instructions and it all seemed very smooth. Although I did notice some of the bleach not leaving the brush and just staying in the rivets. I left it to develop for about 30mins, washed it out and checked out how it looked.

Wild Ombré for Blonde to Dark Blonde

Overall I think the product does what it says it will and i'm relatively happy with the end product (but this is down mainly to me wanting my "roots" to be darker). I probably won't buy it again though, not because I didn't like it, more because I find it easier without using the brush. I didn't like how some of the bleach stayed in the brush, I felt like I was being cheated out of bleach haha. Also there is a small section on my right side where there's a slight "coon tail" (please note this image is no way affiliated to me) where I must not have brushed enough dye on. Aside from that though, this is a good kit if your a beginner, scared or unsure of how to do Ombré.

(PLEASE NOTE: If you do buy this product be aware there are different boxes for different shades of hair e.g. Light Blonde to Blonde, Blonde to Dark Blonde etc)

Buy from:
Superdrug: £5.99
Boots: £6.00
Sainsburys: £6.99 (or 2 for £11)

Until next time....

LET'S DO THIS!

Sophie - 25 - London
Hidey hey blogosphere!
How you all doing? Just thought i'd introduce me and my lil project to the world (and also put my self on the list of countless other blogs who will no doubt be similar to mine but hey BLOGGERS UNITE right?)

Why?
Why start a blog you ask? Simple. I've always been in love and admired bloggers from a young age. The first blogger I ever followed is an incredible blogger, Gala Darling. From there she sparked my interest in the blogging world. At the time though I didn't feel ready to start one. I felt I didn't have the time or patience to start one up and give it the proper dedication it deserved. In fact i'm not sure if i'm ready now but sometimes you just gotta close your eyes, jump in and hope for the best.. are we ever really ready for things anyway? From there I found Nubby TwigletHello Giggles and most recently LLYMLRS.

I don't really know what to expect from doing this. At the moment this is for fun, and i'm not expecting to get many readers/followers. But to me this is a fun way to get creative and possibly push me to do more so I can write about my experiences. Again i'm not entirely sure what niche this lil blog will fit in to but i'm excited to see where it goes, I hope you all are too.

5 Random Facts
Ok so to help break the ice a bit heres 5 random facts about me to help you feel more acquainted with me...

  • I hate onions- like with a passion! Before I knew you could get onionless cheeseburgers from Macca's i used to sit there and scrap out all the onions before eating it.. yep.
  •  I'm originally from New Zealand- I moved here to London 4 years ago this year (2013). My dad is from NZ and my mum is from Scotland. I love NZ with all my heart but who could resist the sparkling lights of a city that hardly sleeps (not to be confused with NYC)
  • I'm a self-confessed Harry Potter fan- I can recite the spells, can accurately describe what it feels like to apparate. I can have long in-depth conversations about this subject and never get tired! Just this year my boyfriend got me tickets to the Studio Tour at Leavesden Studios in Watford, BEST PRESENT EVER!
  • Currently studing a BA(Hons) in Media Studies and Entertainment Technology at Portsmouth University- I'm loving it! (aside from some of the assignments and projects haha)
  • I have 7 tattoos and will be making it 8 this Weds- I might do a tattoo post at some point and show you all them.

So that's that! This has been my welcome post to this lil adventure i'm starting! I'm still in the working stages, figuring out my style and niche so I hope you all can stick with me. I'm looking at changing the layout eventually, I have an idea of what I want but this all takes time. The name could change, we'll see. What do you all think? You like the name? Feel free to leave a comment :)

Until next time....
